Exiled former Gambian President calls for forgiveness and unity

The exiled former Gambian President Yahya Jammeh has called for forgiveness and unity in an audio where he emphasised the significance of fear of Allah and avoiding the way of satan.

Asalamu Alaikum wa rahmatoulihi wa barakatouhu, I send you Islamic New Year greetings. I pray this year be a year of acceptance of all our prayers,” he commenced.

He prayed that the new Islamic Year be one of peace, progress and prosperity, asking Allah, the Almighty to alleviate the suffering of the people.

He extended greetings to the APRC chairmen and women, the executive, National Assembly Members and all party supporters.

Jammeh appealed that all should forgive one another, praying that Allah purify the hearts.

“All patriotic citizens should be god-fearing people and may Allah take away all negative thought from the hearts and foster unity among the people,” he prayed.

The former Gambian president stated that The Gambia is bigger than an individual, indicating “as that’s what Allah has endowed us.”

He reiterated the need for god-fearing and forgiveness among citizens and prayed that Allah save the nation from all malevolence and have mercy for all in the hereafter.

He said harmful thoughts and negative deeds are all the ways of satan.

Jammeh who ruled the Gambia for 22 years and met his defeat by a coalition in 2016 said insulting is the way of the arch satan, Iblis, praying that Allah keeps all away from the path of Iblis.

Preaching, Jammeh said: There are two routes in this world – one to the path of satan and the other to Allah which leads to paradise. May Allah move the Gambia towards the good direction I want, as that is the same good intention I still have for the country.”

He prayed for the whole of Africa and the world in general to enjoy peace, adding that bad intention breed conflict which is satanic.

He reminded that this world is not permanent; adding that the only eternal live is in the hereafter.

Jammeh prayed that Allah admits the people in highest abode in paradise, Jannatul Firdaus.

He called on all those angry to cherish forgiveness for the sake Allah only.

“Though the world will come to an end but very significant too because what we sow here is what we will reap in the hereafter.”

Explaining the perils of satan’s work, Former President Jammeh in summary narrated the story of how Iblis, the arch satan who disobeyed Allah by refusing to prostrate for Adam.

He said when Allah reprimanded Iblis for disobedience and told him the punishment that awaits him in the hereafter, the satan chief also vowed to go after his servants to mislead them.

He narrated how satan misled Adam and Awa (Eve) to eat the prohibited fruit.

“Whoever followed the way of Allah will be guided and rewarded with paradise and those who follow satan will dwell in hell fire”

“As human being, we should believe that whatever Allah destined prevails, anybody who disbelieves that disbelieves in Allah.”

He expressed gratitude to everybody and prayed that the beginning and the end of the Islamic New Year be one of abundant blessings.

“Anybody who thinks he (Yahya Jammeh) is happy with what is transpiring has mistaken, because I have never intended to see Gambians suffering, even my enemies.”

He said Allah has clearly stated the significance of goodness in the Glorious Quran.

“I pray for all citizens to have positive and decent hearts for the interest of national development – APRC and non APRC members to be good citizens and god-fearing people.”

He prayed that the rainy season result in good harvests, food sufficiency and without natural disaster.
