The President of Farato International Peace Festival (FIPF), Saikou Njie has called on Gambians to come together and fight COVID-19 in the country.

“We cannot win this fight against Coronavirus if we don’t work as a team and every one of us have a role to play,” he said as his organization in collaboration with Helping Hand, The Gambia from Germany, recently donated infusion sets worth 32, 000 euros to the ministry of health last Thursday in Kotu.

“It’s important that we act as a team, not pointing fingers. We have to put our heads together to come up with ideas,” he emphasized.

Njie said health is expensive, and that the infusion sets are highly technical equipment which would be very useful to bigger health facilities.

“The health workers are in the frontline but they have to get our support. Material support but also moral support,” he said.

16 infusion sets were donated to the ministry and each of the infusion sets cost 2000 euros (about D 110,991.18).

The donated items were meant to contribute to the fight against the deadly coronavirus that continues to affect more than one million people and killing tens of thousands of people.

The Gambia has registered 9 cases so far including one death and two recoveries while the remaining six active cases are currently receiving treatment.
