Masireh Bojang, native of Jambur village, Kombo South, West Coast Region of The Gambia in her 90s has informed the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparation Commission (TRRC) that she was abducted by ‘witch doctors’ in 2009 whilst she was selling peanut at a shop near the road.
She said when they came they asked her to go with them and she asked about the reason and they insisted that she should go with them.
She stated that she was dragged forcefully to board a bus, explaining that the bus was full to capacity when she got in.
She said she recognized Nani Bojang, Momodou Kah and Almamo Manneh and they were taken to Kololi.
The witness added that when they arrived at Kololi they were taken to a big room and no food was provided for them then later gave them concoction to drink.
She said she was given a tin full of concoction and forced to drink.
“After I drank the concoction my stomach was paining and I was rolling on the ground because of the pain,” She said.
She added that they spent the night at Kololi and slept on the bare floor without mattress or blanket and the following day someone died at Jambur, stating that they cried and were later released to return to their various homes in Jamburr.
Masireh said she has not yet recovered from the ailment as she is still suffering from stomach ache and pain all over her body.
“I was a farmer and a peanut seller before but due the concoction I was forced to drink now I can’t do anything,” She said.
She said when she returned home she heard people explaining that “witches” and “wizards” were taken to Kololi.
