Numerous convicted criminal and murderers among protesters – Sankareh alleges
By SHERIFF SAIDYKHAN
Ebrima Sankareh, the spokesperson of the Government has alleged that numerous people among thousands of Gambian’s peaceful protesters yesterday were onetime convicted criminals and murderers.
He made these remarks in an exclusive interview at West Coast Radio coffee time show with Peter Gomez.
He decried what he described as negative comments against him during a standoff at Denton Bridge.
He said people that insulted him were former convicted murderers who did not represent the opinions of the 3 Years Jotna movement.
He further alleged that there were convicted and pardoned murderers at the demonstration.
“Not everybody who was there represented the opinions of the Jotna movement and to suggest that the Jotna people did not want to give me their petition is false. They never said that. It came from some people in the crowd who were saying we don’t need Sankareh, we need President Barrow, because Sankareh is too small for that,” he argued.
Mr. Sankareh said he was not sent as an interlocker between the 3 Years Jotna movement and the government, adding that he was on the ground to play an active fair role.
He further added that the pioneers of the 3 Years Jotna pleaded apologetically on certain strange behavioral patterns during the protest.
Sankareh confirmed that he delivered the petition letter to President Adama Barrow.
“I received the petition letter, and I took it to the president hand to hand. I shook his hand and I thanked him for trusting me. I have gone there and this is the envelope.”
