Tallinding North Ward Development Committee inaugurates new office

 The Tallinding North Ward Development Committee has recently inaugurated their new office in Tallinding Sicap, Kanifing municipality.

The committee is established to pioneer development in Tallinding North comprises of 22 members headed by the ward councilor Baboucarr Mansally.

Speaking at the colorful ceremony, councilor Mansally urged the community to work hand in glove for development of the area.

“One person can’t do it all, we should work together. Together we can move a mountain,” he told the gathering.

The Councilor said he is an elected servant of the people and not a “boss” over them.

“I’m here to work for you. I’m not your boss. I’m your servant to serve you,” he said, expressing gratitude to Mr. Talib Ahmed Bensouda, the current mayor of KMC for his support. 

The APRC elected councilor said he has a cordial relationship with Mayor Bensouda, adding that it is good as it is all in the best interest of building the Metropolitan City

The former Mayor of KMC, Mr. Yankuba Colley advised the people of Tallinding to put aside their political differences and work together for the betterment of their communities.

Colley said that development is a collective work not an individual venture.

Bakary Singhateh, project manager for the waste management project at KMC assured the committee of their support.

He informed the gathering that 19 vehicles are bought to solve the issues of waste collection in the municipality.

He said that each ward councilor within the Kanifing municipality is allocated a vehicle that will be collecting garbage in their various wards.

He advised people to avoid putting sand and irons in their garbage that could damage the vehicle.

Singhateh stated that D10.00 (ten dalasi’s) will be charged for each bag full of garbage and the money is expected to be used for the maintenance and repair for the vehicles.

The ward committee is said to have reopened nine public taps which were closed in the community last year, distributed 30 dustbins in various schools in Tallinding north, organized football tournament as part of efforts to unite the youth of the community on one platform despite their political differences.  

Certificates very awarded to members who have contributed immensely in community development and toward the success of the ward committee.

However, political party representatives from the United Democratic Party (UDP), Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC), People’s Democratic Organization for Independence and Socialism (PDOIS) and Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) attended the ceremony.
