President Adama Barrow has vowed to stay in power till the completion of constitutional five year mandate.

He highlighted what he referred to as the significant developmental stride registered under his administration compared to his predecessors, former presidents Sir Dawda Jawara and Yahya Jammeh.

“I am here to stay in power till 2021, because the development registered during my two year stint is incomparable to my predecessors. Since I came to power, the civil service pensions and wages have also increased to 100 per cent,” the Gambian leader bragged.

President Barrow made these remarks on Wednesday during his on-going Meet the People Tour at a rally held at Busura, Kombo South, West Coast Region.

President Barrow expressed delight and extended gratitude to the people of Busura for the show of solidarity.

He further added that his National Development Plan (NDP) has inclusively put Busura at the top of its priority.

He said his administration fully acknowledged the growing problems in Busura, which includes lack of access to medical and health, assuring them of Government support.

“I am deeply happy with people of Busura for their great political support. My government will establish a hospital in Busura that will be number one throughout the whole country,” he said.

He further highlighted the significance of peace, urging Gambians to put aside political differences in a bid to move the country forward.

He added that peace is the fundamental key drive towards national development, while urging all and sundry to shoulder the burden of peace at all times.

“Let us maintain peace and stability in the country, it is only peace and hard work that can move this country forward,” he remarked.

President Barrow said any political adversary that want to challenge him on power, can wait till 2021, threatening them of the heaviest political defeat.

He said his administration is moving with speed, in its quest to achieve much development for the country.

“Let the opponent talk, whilst we are working with speed. And anybody who wants to stand for presidency meet me at the battleground, come 2021,” he said.
