Sheriffo Sonko, Chairman for Brikama Area Council (BAC) who has been mute over his expulsion from the United Democratic Party (UDP) since his removal has accepted the decision of his party in good faith.

Speaking to The Monitor about his expulsion Sonko responded: “I am not talking to the media as of now. I am currently doing my in-house training. What I can confirm to you is UDP expelled me which I took in good faith,” he revealed.

It could be recall that Sonko was expelled by the UDP on March 27 with two other West Coast Region councilors, Modou Bojang and Bilal, councilors for Jambour and Nema-kunku ward respectively.

On his part, Dr. Almami Fanding Taal, UDP spokesperson said: Sonko’s removal was not a crime, adding that he (Sheriffo Sonko) was a member of a party that has rules and regulations which found him  wanting.

“We have the right to discipline any member of our party,” he remarked.

However, Sonko and the two councillors were last week expelled from UDP following allegation of their disloyalty to the political party.
