Gambia COVID-19: 76 new lab tests, 5 positives
The Gambia has on Friday, April 10, 2010 registered its 9th case of COVID-19 after the confirmation of 5 new positive results.
The Ministry of Health indicated that 76 new laboratory test results were received from Medical Research Council, The Gambia.
In his usual public update on COVID-19, the Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh revealed that 5 were positive, 1 inconclusive, 70 negative, while 2 of the confirmed cases were in quarantine on account of recent travel from UAE and 1 other confirmed case was in quarantine on account of recent travel from UK.
“The remaining 2 confirmed cases are still in quarantine for being close contacts of the 4th confirmed case. The inconclusive case also has a travel history of recently returning from UAE .”
Dr. Samateh said 4 new persons are placed under quarantine, adding that the country currently has 6 active cases and 2 of the newly confirmed cases were locally transmitted.
According to the ministry, all 5 newly confirmed cases are currently asymptomatic.
Before the 5 new cases, Gambia recorded 4 COVID-19 cases when 6 tests were conducted, 4 confirmed positive, 2 recovered and 1 death, heightening the country’s COVID-19 record to 9.
