Imam Bakawsu Fofana critiques closure of mosques, others

Renowned and outspoken Gambian Imam, Bakawsu Fofana has critiqued resolutions of governments including Gambia to close mosques, schools, markets among others as part of precautionary measures to avoid public gathering for the prevention and containment of the Coronavirus.

Fofana who made a made for himself for his critical stance during the dictatorial era of former president Yahya Jammeh made his divergent position known through a recorded audio that is making round on the social media.

He said the COVID-19 caused fear and panic in billions of people across the world.

Ba Kawsu recommended prayers and supplication so that God’s mercy will salvage humankind from the pandemic.

He said if human beings make things complicate God will make it obscure for them too.

He called on leaders across the world not to close the frontiers of their countries, schools, mosques, markets, airports, sea ports or ban social gatherings like naming ceremonies and funerals.

Fofana said for commercial activities which include the landing of planes, harbouring of vessels and the buying and selling at the markets are indeed no trivial matters.
