Makumbaya alkalo evokes ordeal of his abduction

Ansumana Sarjo, the current alkalo (village head) of Makumbaya, Kombo South, West Coast Region has told the Truth Reconciliation and Reparation Commission(TRRC) that

The witness said he was captured by the ‘witch doctors’ at Makumbaya forced to board a bus by the Green Boys.

He said when he boarded the bus it was filled to its capacity and he later recognized Mariam Bah and Wudeh Ceesay.

He stated that when they arrived at Kololi they were given food to eat and later taken to a room to drink concoction.

He further explained that when he went inside the room he saw an old man who was naked and asked to take bath.

“I told them that I am going out as I cannot stand here to watch this old man naked but they refused to allow me out and I turned my back at the man,” he said.

According to Ansumana, people who wore red were those giving the concoction whiles the Green Boys were standing outside, recalling that he was given three cups of concoction to drink in two days.

He said after drinking the concoction he was unconscious and slept on the floor until the next day.

The Makumbaya alkalo said when he became conscious the next day they asked him to go and take bath with the concoction and later returned home.

“After three days my stomach ached and I was vomiting continuously. I went to Cassamance and spend three months there but the vomit didn’t stop,” he said.

He added that when he returned back to Makumbaya after two days Halifa Sallah came to his house with Kebba Jammeh.

He said Halifa Sallah interviewed him and he explained everything that happened to him at Kololi and few days later Banjuluding Police came to arrest him.

“They took me to the police station where I was told that my case will be taken to Banjul headquarters. I asked them what happen and they said why I spoke to Halifa Sallah.” He said.

The witness said he was a driver by profession and a farmer before but now he lost everything and cannot a distance.

He told the Commission that former president Yaya Jammeh was aware of everything because the Green Boys were using Government vehicle.
