Witness holds former president Yahya Jammeh responsible for abduction by ‘witch hunters’

Dado Bah, a 61-year-old woman and a native of Sintet Fula Kunda, Foni Jarrol district, West Coast Region has told the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparation Commission (TRRC) that former Prsident Yahya Jammeh is responsible for their suffering as he gave ordered for their abduction by ‘witch hunters’.

Testifying before the Commission at the regional hearing, the witness said she was taking her grandson to school and the ‘witch hunters’ followed her.

She said a man wearing red clothes with mirrors and horns came and told her to look at the mirror and she did so only to be ordered to follow him and get abducted, forced into a pickup vehicle and taken to where they parked their trucks.

She explained that they were accompanied by the Green Boys of former president Yahya Jammeh armed with pickaxes spoke to her in Guinean Pularr.

After they boarded the truck before departure they slaughtered a red goat, buried it and took them (abductees) where she saw the soldiers who brought them food.

The witness added that after eating the food they were asked to queue to drink concoction.

“I didn’t drink the concoction because I was among the last persons on the queue,” she said, adding that Green Boys came out to inform them that the concoction finished and would fetch water to mix another.

“They asked us to wait for them later  a man named Suteh came from Sintet with a vehicle to take some people. I also ran and join them in the vehicle,” she recounted.

She further explained that the river where they fetched water from is not clean and have crocodiles living in there but was still given to people to drink.

All those who drank the concoction lied down like death bodies and some are still having health problems.
