Bakary Ceesay nominated Media Personality of the year

Bakary Ceesay, an entertainment writer for The Monitor newspaper is among nominees for Media Personalty of the year in The Wah Sa Halat Music Awards Gambia scheduled to take place on January 31, 2020 at Penchami Hall of Paradise Suite Hotel.

Ceesay, one of the Gambia’s finest entertainment journalists is nominated alongside Sally Jobe, anchor of Playlist at Kerr Fatu, Delz Campbell, anchor of GamVibes at QTV, Foday Jawara, alias Master Fo, anchor of 360 Show at Paradise FM and Isha Elizabeth, Entertainment anchor at Block TV Gambia.

Organized by Brand Plus, nominees are drawn from among award winning artists, producers, video directors and media practitioners who work extremely well in their songs, video events.

Reacting to his nominations, Ceesay, who did public relations for many Gambians artistes, event organizers and promoters said: “I felt honored to be recognized as Media Personality of the year in 2019, after working with all the prominent Gambian artistes in their show with huge turnout.”

“This nomination means a lot for me, as I took the journey to contribute my quota in th music industry seven year ago when many don’t believe that our music can be boomed like today and this challenge me to do more.”

He explained that seven years ago he took it upon himself to promote Gambian music through the media with the motivation that we need to tell our own stories of the artists to reach stardom.

He added that it took him sleepless nights in covering live music concerts and walk home three kilometers by foot.

He urged young journalists to have keen interest in the area of arts and entertainment because there are lots of stories that need to be told to the audiences that Gambia has a great talent to offer the world.

“This nomination is dedicated to The Voice Newspaper, Music in Africa, Block TV Gambia, The Monitor and Pan African Visions who gave me the platform to expose talents across the globe. To my colleague nominees, we are not in a competition but we are all winner at the end of the day.”
